South Central Scholars’ staff of educated volunteers guides students in the South Central Los Angeles area to expand their academic potential and nurture their intellectual abilities by providing them with mentorships, encouraging them to apply for scholarships, and assisting them in finding their place in the corporate world through job placement programs.
 
Through the continual promotion of academic success and various education-based programs, South Central Scholars has helped open doors for myriad Los Angeles high school students to attend reputable colleges and prestigious universities throughout the United States.  Members of the South Central Scholars Alumni Association have been offered opportunities to attend Ivy League schools including Harvard University, Brown University, and Dartmouth College, as well as well-established West Coast universities such as Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley.
 
After completing college and earning their undergraduate degrees, many former South Central Scholars have become accepted into competitive graduate programs, and continued their education at institutions such as Harvard Medical School, Harvard Law School, Howard Law School, and Stanford Law School.
