About Oregon City Established in 1829, the historical city of Oregon City, Oregon was the first incorporated city west of the Rocky Mountains.   It was the last stop on the Oregon Trail and it’s historic houses and buildings are preserved today.  Oregon City is home to several paper mills, as well as the Willamette Falls Locks.

Oregon City is located approximately 14 miles southeast of Portland by the Willamette River.

Oregon City has over 10 Neighborhood Associations.  The Rivercrest neighborhood includes residences which overlook the Willamette River while the Canemah neighborhood lies on a narrow strip of land between the Willamette and a bluff.  Oregon City’s city hall and county jail are located in the Hillendale neighborhood, while the local high school and community college are located in the Caufield Neighborhood.

Average summer temperature is in the 80’s. Summer days can be as long as 16 hours. Minor snowfall in the wintertime (2-3 inches). Average of only 36 inches of rain per year.
